Now ~there~ is another peeve about PayPal... even if it was a pure debit from out 'loaded' PayPal account, they will NOT issue 'em to anyone outside of the US.

As long as PayPal is bias'd against all non-US residents, or anyone without a US-based, US-funds bank account, people will use whatever else they can. Me, if its Canuck-to-Canuck, I'll use Interac. Sender pays the fee, short of loading the 'amount' with the surcharge (nephew sends me $ all the time that way)

And I haven't used cheques in about a decade, because no-one ever cashes 'em when you expect, and I've been burned for either an NSF fee or overdraft charge because they did.

Now, its cash, debit when in person, PayPal or Interac email when online. I won't send wired funds or MO's, the fees/risks there make PayPal a JOY to use.

Just my opinion.
