Hey Freddie, for brushes, just an idea. Mini wire wheels (dremel style) or jewelry cleaning brushes. Some examples below, maybe you could work with something on here even if you had to bend the bristles down or something :

Another few examples:
http://www.tanisinc.com/cb_industrial.php#industry1 OR....for a homemade approach, you could make a styrene disc and cut the brush head off a small, round artists brush and glue that to the styrene disc. Lastly, the brushes don't have to be horizontal. Sure you could have one horizontal on either side, or just one long vertical "spiral" brush across the bottom, or a combo of both, like this:
