That is a nice sled but I hope Izzy and I can come up with something for less money.

Travis you could make that sled work. Just change the rear tires out to some semi duallies for looks and make the skid smaller for more friction. Maybe a bigger weight box.

We are working on a sled design now and hopefully we can have something for this summer but if all else fails I can do some work on the one I have till we get a better one.

This sounds interesting...
But a couple of questions;

How would you get consistent weight for traction on every participants truck?
A box holding a predetermined weight that hooks into the truck's 5th wheel?

And what about a consistent height pulling hitch for every participant?
Something that clips onto the rear of the frame, or rear Xmember?

Not everyone showing up at a show will have their truck set up for pulling...
Having a truck weight box and pulling hitch assembly along with the sled will allow anyone to participate.

Just my thoughts.

: Motors no bigger than 540 size can. Brushed or brush-less

: Gear reduction is builders choice

: Frame rails no longer than the longest stock rails in a kit which I think are either the Knight hauler or Aeromax. Frame rails can be aftermarket just have to meet the length limits.

: The sled and hitch will be provided and all competitors will use the same hitch.

All ideas and comments are welcome.

Thanks for the input and you are right Jim and that is what we have been considering building a hitch that is also a weight box and all 0f the trucks will pull from their fifth wheel. Basically a weight box and hitch all in one with a padded u shaped bracket to keep the hitch square with the frame and the padding so guys with deck plates wont have them marked up and all can play.

Hi guys. I know that I'm way out in California, but I've given events some long thought for some time now and I've a couple of ideas that you may already be using. If you aren't you might like to entertain them.

My first idea was that at any event, the public would feel more involved if there was a public truck show where they could vote on their favorite choice for best show. Then at the end of the event have an announcement of the top three winners.

My second idea was to have competitions based on the CDL driving test required by the DMV. It would involve at least three events: 1) Parallel Parking where you have to back the trailer into a space at a 90-degree, 2) Making a Right-hand-turn as close to the cone as possible without hitting the cone, and 3) Straight Backing between a set of at least six cones, three on each side of the trailer without hitting any of them, and one at the very back without backing over it.

The judging could be based on a point system. It shouldn't be hard to work out the details if you were interested. I'm sure that it would be great fun in addition to the truck-pulling competition.

I love both ideas for truck pulling, and for the driving competition! I would probably (if they do this at Indy) bring my CR01 crawler just for laughs, and I was thinking about how much practice I am gonna need for my first semi when I finally get it done. Something I would love to watch from the experienced guys.

Thanks for bringing this up as the East Coast guys have done both. The truck driving competition is always good for a laugh and the voting for the truck is also a lot of fun. Both of these are great ideas to bring the participants and the public together and have a good time.

Got to witness the testing, you guys are in for a treat. I say worst case, get yourself a box-stock rig just for this if you don't have anything that will pull. Gonna be a blast!
