http://www.sdp-si.com/eStore/CoverPg/Gears.htm

This is where I order all my gears from. Large selection of miter gears or what ever you want. Not everything is in stock all the time and the prices are decent but very easy website to use and order from. Just make a shopping cart and order. No minimum of an order as long as you pay by credit card.

Every other good gear supplier I have found is a quote/contact to order. That's just too time consuming to me.

There is also http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-gears/=jhalkw but this is a limited selection.

I've bought miter gears pretty cheap once before from ebay. Hard to find what you want though.

I have good experiences with them too. Easy, quick and a wide selection.

Default Re: Gears

McMaster does have some gears like these, as already mentioned. I bought a set myself, but they get pricey, if you need a lot of them. McMaster has both nylon and metal gears, of various strengths. The stronger they are the more they cost. The other thing is most are either held with set screws or keyways and set screws. I don't know that I would trust a set screw, but maybe if the gear was pinned to the shaft instead, it would hold without slipping. Or at least you would need a flat on a shaft for the set screw to bite into. Some guys are able to score gears like these out of cheap hand grinders too. Sometimes it pays to look around.
