Very impressive.

Just curious, but for those of us who know nothing about machining, where does one buy a giant block of aluminum like that?

here you go but I didn't pay that much for what I used . I have an industrial surplus place near me that has drops and what not . but you gotta grab it when you see it .

Steve what scale is this? If you are 11 or 12 inches from the center pin to the back of the counter weight I believe that is more than I have on my DEERE. Ed

14th. from comparing the specs of the Deere 850D 1:1 , Vario comes up a little short , IIRC . the cat 385 is just a hair bigger then the 850D Deere
