How about a Dewalt cordless drill motor and gearbox?
I have no idea what space is available in your 740 though Cheers Stu |

I was thinking along those lines too. You can buy a cheap brand new 12-18 volt drill for around $40 here(sometimes less). I use them in my Euclid(single speed) and Kenworth(2 speed) and they work very well. I doubt you could stall either one without breaking something else. There may not be enough room though I guess. The price is certainly right!

I wonder if anyone has a couple of pictures of one of these drills striped down. I had a look in the local hardware shop today and for about $50 I can get one but not sure how far to take it apart. Paul |

Here's a picture of an 18v drill stripped down. I don't remember if this was a Campbell Hausfeld or a Black and Decker. It is the largest one I have seen so far. The motor on this one is quite long and is much bigger than a 550. The single speed that I used in my Euc is probably 1.5 inches shorter and the one in my KW is somewhere in between. I changed the motor on the single speed because it was only a 540 and spun quite fast. The pinions are pressed on making motor swaps easy if you aren't happy with the speed or torque. Hope this helps.
