Default Throwing around ideas

I am beginning to wonder if I would be better off, more cost effective and learn more if I were to purchase the BareBonesConstruction items and install hydraulics and electronics myself.

Could someone advise me about this thought?

BALLPARK cost to do the hydraulics on the excavator?

You could also get one of the products from Fumotec, then you got the complete package except for the electronics (which can also be included if you request it). That way you got an all in one package with a good manual and not that much more expensive than buying an empty shell and spend $$ on trial and error buys.

this my barebones d11 and what it looks like inside

there excavator is the same thing no drive motors no turntable motor or hydros
this is my china kat at the time I could not buy the empty machine so I had to get all
the cheap Chinese parts. all gutted and replaced with rc4wd,jung and morepower parts
and still tuning it

now rc4wd has there 4200 listed for $1799.00 I would jump on that before messing
with all of this

Now that is what my work area looks like. Have trouble finding what you set down? LOL That dozer is so cool.

Interesting that with the reduced price on the ver 1.5 1400XL that you say buy. I have seen a few things that concern me about that, but I guess this is an entry point and I should expect to replace the drive units with the upgrade one of the members here does for the drive units.

What else is sub-par and need better components to perpetually please me?

Additionally, an excavator does not 'drive' around all over the place, usually just moves a little from one area to another....and if movement occurs with digging, just go perpendicular to the tracks to get around that. So not so sure how important that is to me in the beginning.

I actually plan on a very long term project of terracing my back yard hill which is about a 45-60 degree hillside. I figure 5 or 6 years to do this. LOL

More feedback please.

the d11 is all 1-2 mm sheet steel it all need to be sealed
i don't know strong a dozer it will be. the kat is a little
thicker aluminum BUT they glued it together in spots.
there are no bushings or bearings. the pump eat its self
from the first start up. oil pushed past all the seals. that's
why i upgrade all parts. only thing china kat left are the drives
and turntable motos.

Hard digging perpendicular will just drag it sideways, you need the length of the tracks to keep you planted!

Sounds like my kind of digging project!

And the Vario hoe will give you a much greater enjoyment in digging power & virtually maintenance free than that rc4wd/eagle machinery piece of crap ever will!
