Wow, that looks fantastic. Steering seems to work just fine even without a rear differential. I cant wait to see this truck loaded to the gills lumbering up a haul road.

The truck is slowly coming together...slowly.....ALM. would be a much better and lighter material to use for a bigger model like this...some day when I grow up I want to learn how to weld ALM.....

Thanks.....and yes it is heavy!!! Might be the only thing about this build that ends up being to scale...LOL....

[QUOTE=RCP57;100416]Wooo-hooo! Looks good and just in time to haul presents to the Xmas tree! I sure like the size of that. I don't think the speed is too bad? I guess you could always up you voltage or change the front sprocket if you thought it wasn't fast enough.

Thanks.....it was nice being able to see this thing move around a bit, even if it is a bit slow, hopefully it will have enough power to move with a full load....I did try it with some weight on it but the rear tires are almost running flat because I only have foam in them now...they need air or more foam, deal with that later....

It is alive...well almost...finally remember to get vid of it...funny how tricky it is to hold the camera and radio at the same time, good thing I wasn't chewing gum...LOL...glad the pail was helpful I put it down for two reasons...get some idea of it's size and show the turn radius. It does seem to turn alright but this is with no load on concrete and no air in the rear tires,I think the tires might be slipping on the rims...one more thing to figure out later....

Thanks......It does seem to turn alright at this point....the speed thing might be a problem, I do have it geared down now to what I hope will provide enough power when it is loaded...that little motor and gear box has a crazy amount power but it still may not be good enough considering the size of the tires and the size and weight of the truck....should have used ALM....but I can't weld ALM.....more like I just can't weld....LOL

Thanks...it is starting to look like a truck ,not very true to scale but more of a "looks about rightish" build.....I wish the tires were a bit bigger and wider...
I really want to see this thing finished and hauling a load as well !!
(besides I need to get started on the shovel so someone stops hounding me about it....Reg...LOL)

Sorry Neil, I don't think they will work as they were made for a "hand Truck" not a "haul truck".

Those would make some nice 1/10th loader tires if the tread was a little different.

Wow, you've made some great progress on the 777. I like the detail you've been putting into the truck. The handrails and ladders look really good. The 5 gallon bucket really helps put things into perspective, on it's shear size. No doubt it will be a very well built, and heavy model. Nice work!

Thanks!!! Adding the details seems to be the biggest challenge but the finished result is always rewarding. Hopefully it is well built...LOL...one thing is for sure...it is heavy!!!

First attempt at the small deck/walkway beside the cab and the hand railing. Something about this just isn't right....think the walk way is too wide, trying to build this all without a scale model to use as a reference or blue prints is tricky, looking at 1:1 picture can only help so much, and many picture are not at the proper angle to get a good reference from...fun fun....very frustating at times!!! More time is spent looking at what has been added and trying to figure out why it doesn't seem to look right....or maybe it's a combination of a number of things that aren't right which make finding the problem a total DRAG !!! I must say...my hat's off to the scale builders!!!! Hope you don't mind my simple not so scale like build....learning all the time!!!

That's nice! Details always sell the appearance of a model. Are you planning on welding all the super structure components together? I can see some tack welds here and there, and some screws in other places. I would think a lot of the tack welds are probably strong enough for the components that won't be stressed, like the cab, fenders, ect. A little body filler to smooth the joints over, and it would be ready for paint. I wish I was a little better at tig welding. I do all right with SMAC welding. Not to much experience with tig.

Details details....yup it does help sell the appearance...just wish it wasn't so #%$@*^& frustrating....LOL...

All the parts you see that have been bent are done by leaving a small amount of material in place, just enough to hold it together and make it easy to bend by hand, all these areas will end up getting a full weld.
They will be mig welded (.023" solid wire) "down hand" to help reduce the amount of heat and avoid to much warping...Tig would be much better...my Tig welding skills are low...scratch that...more like zero !!! Just one more thing to learn when I grow up!!!
