I am planing a truck mounted crane and am wondering what I could use as a turntable, or slew? I do not have the gear or skills to machine my own gears.
I was going to use the head off a grinder. ![]() Will it be strong enough? I was thinking of using a Lazy Susan bearing maybe?. Bicycle gears and chain? What do other people use for their cranes or excavators? |

Check this type of bearing. These thin bearings would work nicely for modern style cranes and excavators.

Look at Izzul's komatsu build, he had a neat bearing/gear combo.
Hope this helps. Cheer's, Neil. |
