Default Screeners

Joe or anyone else who has a thought on the subject,

What are people using for screen and what for the drum?

I plan to start out screening sand. I have some gutter guard but it is a little to big to catch anything but the largest stones.

I think I might end with that, but I'm gona need something finer to start out.

For the drum, is PVC pipe the choice? I thought for my smaller scale maybe thin wall 3".

Is there already a screen thread on the site?

Jim

I used an air filter from a tractor, 275 Massey to be exact. Hole size is about 1/8th or lil bigger. Outer screen tube is about 4", inner screen tube is 2.5" or so. Soak the paper element with gasoline & lite 'er up!

I think the filter's length was 18", you could cut out slots to then wire wrap your larger screening material onto as well near then end for another size seperation.

Look around the office supply section of your local Walmart or similar store. They almost always have garbage cans or file holders made with a pretty fine mesh. I have also seen people on this site recommend buying an old microwave at a yard sale and pull the mesh out of the glass door.

Good ideas! I really like setting something on fire during the build!

Guess I will probably hit walmart this weekend. I just don't have anything good in my scrounge pile.
