4 phase stepper motor

How do I make a 4 phase stepper motor work with a standard 3 wire RC controller?

I put red to red, black to black, & signal to the yellow wire, but it don't work

I tried placing the wires in every different combination I could think of, & even then, it wouldn't function

ANY, & all help is greatly appreciated.
