Default Need Builders Advice Help

Hello

I am a newbe to this and need your advice/help.

I would like to scratch build a 1/10 U.S WWII DUKW. I know it`s been done here and there are dealers; Deans U.K, Loyalhanna U.S and Robbe for drive parts But they are All Very Expensive.

This is my plan, please step in and correct me if you see problems coming. I would like to use 1/14 Tamiya Semi Truck axles, 2 Single drive units and one dual drive units, if that`s how they are called. The Front axle is steerable and ALL axles have leaf springs only. Used parts, axles in plastic body would be lighter and cheaper to start with.

Anyone see any potental design problem? Any recommendation of suppliers would be helpful as well. BUT if you think there is a fault in this design layout, please pictures, drawings anything to show me would help. I heard that something about the front axle gearing has to match with the other two, don`t know how that works.

Look forward to seing your replies and help.

Thanks

George
