"Bo, the way youtube has changed it's resolution settings, my old gopro looks blurry even with it's hidef setting @ 200mb/minute, my video posting days are pretty well done with just a wireless connection, too slow & too costly!"

That sucks......ugh. Was hoping for more entertainment. They Don't make things easy for Guys outside town anymore. I was Googling High Speed Internet in Canada.......O'boy no fun reading at all........I understand your frustration.
Well there is one reason to start planning a road trip.......i wanna see more of this continent anyway. :D And your great project i've ben following for many years by now.

That sucks your not gonna be posting videos anymore. It is a Hassel to take the video, edit it, and then upload it. If you would mail your edited videos to be I'd gladly upload it to YouTube for you Joe. One bonus living close to a city is high speed Internet.

Rural Canada is not great Bo, wireless is expensive & data restricted... about the only negative I can think of for the living in the country, but not that much of a priority to ever consider moving to town. ;)

How would that help me Evan when the video email needs to be of good quality to still upload to youtube?

My Izzy dozer tracks are wearing out!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/001_zpszbt4ug7f.jpg

I had just enough slider travel to take out two links to reconnect the track. I put the lighter set of springs back in, it'll help lengthen the life of the tracks somewhat... but after trying it out the track is still skipping in reverse, not forward... strange

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/002_zps6dkbdc8y.jpg

Shorten two links

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/003_zpsajrso6hb.jpg

Before it was shortened two links

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/004_zpsnqmy7dzd.jpg

I forgot to take a before pic, but before taking out two links the front idlers were another 12 to 20mm ahead so at certain positions of the blade near bottom of travel, the grouser bars were catching the eye bolts on the lift cyls.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/006_zps90jnvbji.jpg

I need some new tracks soon Stevie  :)

Operations in the lean-to last couple weeks, widowing down the lumpy pile.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/008_zpsk1o27sha.jpg

Pile the damp lumps on the adjacent wall... fire up the diesel heater once a day to a temp of 30C in the room to help dry out lumps quicker. ;)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/009_zpsfbyal9bv.jpg

Pile the screenings in the back room.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/007_zpsfd6vpv4a.jpg

Last warm spell in early March I had a screening pile about half the size as above, dumped it out the back door of the shop, as the snow had melted away , bulldozed the fine dirt out along the north wall. It's been spring temps again this last week, couple more days will make it dry enough to do that again. ;)

Amazon Cloud offers a service they call Snowmobile. A Trailer filled with hdd's drives to customer's data center, uploads data to trailer, trailer travels to nearest Amazon data center, uploads data to data center. I think they started it with a service called snowball which was you mail them a hdd. The theoretical bandwith is shockingly high.

If those were rails for a fullsize dozer i'd say they are well past done. Looking forward to seeing the rock bucket on the 963 and the upgraded screening bucket on the 850.

Back in 07 when I 1st started putting vids on youtube I would take my laptop to town & drive around till I found someone's unsecured isp signal to pirate :D I might have to resort to those tactics again... I got 4G wireless in Fall of 10.

Yes it is frizzen great to be upstairs in natural light, & these LEDs lights are bright too. The basement dimensions are 18x28 (feet) with a lot of clutter in the middle, lean-to 15x42 & back room 18x30.

Thanx Jason, not quite done yet, but close. I'd have to remeasure as I took less than I had original planned... it'd be mid 20's cubic yard. The buckets are a treat to put together, everything fits so perfectly.

Interesting service hvy1ton, I'm sure it was conceived for remote construction sites...

Finishing up the loading bucket, just the leveling bucket & U blade left to do

The 963 spade bucket in front, it's about 40mm narrower than the WA500 spade bucket.

Oh, look, it's a right-handed, molecular aggregate re-arranger! Shipping company must have used it incorrectly - usually material goes in the hopper instead of dropping the unit on the aggregate. Hope you get it worked out okay with them. Nice looking unit.

You betcha Mike, a big rock crusher! :D ...it will break rock, needs a 3/4hp electric motor & I have one that use to run my 21 foot conveyor that I had in the basement nearly a decade ago... geez time flies!

Ken, the maker/seller told me to get a new pulley & he'd reimburse me the cost... the pulley is on a browning hub, I'm pretty sure I can find another like it in town. ;)

It'll probably be summer, maybe, when I get it operational... winter holiday just about over. :(

Yeah, it could've done with some cross bracing, for sure. ;)

How fine will this crusher crush rock ? Stone dust size ?

I got the bottom adjuster screw all the way in, looks to be about 1/4 inch opening. The jaw faces are serrated. That other jaw crusher I got a couple yrs ago from Geneq has a 2x2 inch opening, runs on 1/4hp, that one will crush to dust powder.

Some time June maybe put the new jaw crusher to work crushing this pile of lumps, there's some rocks in the mix near the size of a hard baseball, it'll be interesting to see if new crusher can disintegrate them.

Nice videos joe and glad you are able to upload some more. That's been the reason I haven't been posting any videos, uploading on my internet, well it sucks!!! Lol!! I usually take video on phone and then upload at night, sometimes a 5 min video may take three hours or more. Maybe if I load them to computer first now that I have a computer nearby. Anyway nice to see the equipment working and that screener works pretty well. Nice :).

Lil Giants
04-13-2017, 05:18 PM
Those vids are still taken with my old gopro... I've never tried loading direct from phone, I'm afraid the pixel might be much too high... do you know what the data amount is with your 5 minute vids? Cooper, do you have a tripod mount for your smartphone?

The vibrating screener aint prototypical but it's high volume! :D

Cooper
04-13-2017, 07:12 PM
Well that ain't the cure, I took some video, loaded it to computer, spent 20-30 min trying to get my password for YouTube. (I have everything between iPhone and iPad, just open and auto sign-in) who knows where or if I ever wrote down any passwords , am starting that now and going to chain it to the &$@!$? Computer!! It's been about 30 min and 6% upload. But it may be longer than 10min video. I always get carried away and forget video running. Guess I should look at some editing program :).

Yes I have a little tripod for the phone. I just milled a slot in some alum and taped a hole to thread onto tripod. And data amount?? Aw come on, it's me I don't even know how old I am!! Lol!! I only have a limited volume of memory , (my memory that is ) ,,,, next time I'll look but I did see something about changing the file to something else that will allow faster upload. More things to figure out!!! And that cnc thing has about maxed out my learning abilities for the summer!!

Lil Giants
04-14-2017, 04:40 AM
Now that I've used the 490 (JD450) a lot lately, I'm really liking it! One change I made from the original kit was down sizing the Jung pump from 4003 (0,45ml/rev) to a 4002 (0,30ml/rev), with pump motor set to 6500rpm max, flow is approx 420ml/min making boom/stick movement a lot less springy, much easier to control with smooth fluent motion.

When I bought this Scale Art track loader from Mitch Mignano in April of 2012, he had the model equipped with sound & lights via Servonaut, but it left so little room under the cab that the space left for a battery was a tiny 3s Life with a capacity of maybe 2000mAh... didn't last a day in my possession before I gutted that shyt out to fit a 4000NiMH. :D ;) Plus the for/rev esc was Servonaut too, swapped that out as well for a 2x12 Sabertooth, much better control. :)

So I've been working on a few new projects in the hobby shop

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2017/001_zps66vodhoq.jpg

Broke all these stones except the big white one, once that stone split the color of the core was a dark purple & that color of stone seems to be the hardest of them all. After I fished the two pieces out, started up jaw again & tossed in one half, then the jaw broke it down. Then tossed in other half & it eventually crumbled too.

The small pulley on motor is only driving the jaw to about 290rpm, it says on the website not to exceed 375rpm... I'll try a bit bigger motor pulley & experiment some more to see if added speed helps.

Is that fine sand stuff you are talking about just the dirt that's been processed? Or is it actual sand material. Around here we have decent soil but on the sandy side. Good for the plows but not good in between rains, drys out too quick. But this year it's been a swamp everywhere. Fields still have standing water, starting to kill off vegetation. Bee good for finding a bunch of baby snapping turtles this year :). ,,, perfect match for my wife's new little doggie!!! ;).

The vid didn't play sound on laptop, but I hear it on youtube... made another vid with B50 dumping in crusher & same thing with no sound till uploaded to youtube.

All that screened & crushed dirt is going outside... another build project after seeding, a set of bellydump cross dumps. ;)

RW, all that fine material is pure clay. Pour a glass of water on it & it would turn to snott in an instant! After it dried it'd be a brick! Vibra screening it when it's damp it balls up a lil bit & is kinda like grainy sand.

Shaker table... as in what I showed on my farmer thread? The problem with that idea is small rocks & wet dirt will block off the holes. Vibrator screen at a slight angle keeps that from happening. ;)

Yes Jack, lots of ideas, just not always lots of ambition to get 'er done :o

Using the B50 to dump into crusher working a lot better, haul more dirt per trip, dump & go. ;)

Looking good joe, you need a way to haul stuff and I need a way to load stuff:). Lol!! Hope planting season has been good, two of our fields that a farmer is and panting have only been 2/3s planted. Retired I suppose Emil, the small tired vehicles don't get around that well, and the capacity is much less than the Fumotec trks. ;)

I updated my farmer thread last week Cooper... it was crazy wet 1st part of May, a lot of wheel slippage throughout seeding, got stuck bad at the end, now 6 weeks later it's crazy dry & my crop is coming up patchy b/c of excessive compaction during seeding & virtually no rainfall to keep the soil mellow... it's gonna be another yr of

In the last pic the trl is sitting on a 20L pail Evan, I'm betting it'll hold most of that. I made the height of the trl the same as the B50 adt so a loader can fill it, but I also plan to make 2" cheaters for more capacity with the hoe loading.

I guess we'll wait & see Reg...

Relying on just 8wd drive Kent? ...hoping two more trls, started on two at once again yesterday... if not, add more powered axles. ;)

Farted away the afternoon putting together the rear of the trl & trying to get two rx's to bind together... started with an AR8000 & AR610 (both DSMX), didn't work. Then tried the AR6115e with the AR8000, didn't work. Two AR8000's together, that worked... though that seems like kind of a waste... I came across some good deals on ebay last February, picked up AR9020's, AR8000's & AR610's for 40-70% off from hobbyshop listed prices. :)

Steve, no hyds included with original 4206 kit.

Indeed Frizzen, move a lot of dirt per hour with this rig... but having issues with brushless motors in the tractor vs brushed motors in the trl, only at full throttle can I get them to work smoothly together... sometimes

I was going to switch tractor to brushed, but the axle housings are too narrow for the longer brushed motor/gearhead... would rather have all brushed b/c then it will travel 20% faster & one 2x25 Sabertooth will control all 8 wheel motors vs trying to sync 8 individual escs/brushless wheel motors... currently only have one extra B50 axle for brushed motors, of course  ...just be a matter of having to drill & tap the B50 axle housing to bolt it into the narrower 4206 body. The tires will stick out a 1/4 inch more each side... ahhh, aint scratchbuilding fun?! :p :D

Your million dollar idea Jim, good luck with it :p :D

Wow, and wow.. that dozer blade is a work of art. If this can help on your next assembly, I just saw something about baking soda can be sprinkled on loctite 495 and it will instantly cure. Haven't tried myself and not sure which glue he sent you but it needs to be a cyanoacrylate to work with the BS. Using small layers of glue and bs is supposed to be much stronger than just the glue alone... Good for filling gaps n such.

Didn’t you have that set up as a set of doubles? Sounds like live stock in the back ground, thought you got rid of your livestock.

Lil Giants

I'm very impressed too Kent with the trl's stability, such a high center of gravity doesn't fizz on it much at all. The axles width is 11,5". That was the original plan, doubles - maybe even triples, but the current length of this trl is 33 inches makes a wide corner.

I sold my herd in Dec 2011, those are my neighbor's cows, close to 300 in the corral, just brought them over late afternoon, lock them up over night so they all find the only water source, turned them out this morning on 700ac durum stubble... my patchy germination was the worse in this field, it's the heavist land (gumbo) on the farm, what germinated later was shallow rooted, fell flat on the ground when it ripened too low for the combine to get it. Providing it doesn't get too cold too soon there's lots there to keep the cows fed for a couple months.

Moved out about 2/3 of a cube last night & this morning, about 2hrs total time

Hauled a lot of dirt out of the basement last couple months

https://s18.postimg.cc/5e45ekdkp/015.jpg (https://postimages.cc/)

Used the ol GL to catch the lumps from the screener & pile in the opposite corner for the B50 to haul out later. The tunnel ramp is lil steep for the old GL, plus it only hauls half as much as the B50. Once the 'fines' pile upstairs got wide enough to use the bellydump again, parked the GL & hauled lumps direct with B50.

Very neat and organised operation. I like when the ole GL comes in to play. Kind of missing that one bopping around, old style. :D I saw the German guys have an elevator hoisting trucks between floors. Could save som AMP'S

Looks like you've been making some great progress down there, i kinda like "old time digging' that's not just the really heavy mining equipment

Yeah the Tamiyas were good fun back in the day when my layout was much smaller. I don't need an elevator Bo, I got Fumotec tough equip ;) also, as I get older, my metabolism seems to be dropping, need more exercise :o

Hi Joe-every time I look at this thread I am amazed at how much dirt you have moved with your machines. It would be interesting to know how much stick-time you have with your models but I am sure you enjoyed every minute of it. I really like the picture of the "fines" pile. That kinda gives an idea of how much work has been done. Keep at it!!!

Lil Giants

Carp, I have two 4206's, one has 3 valve hyds, the other has none.

Tom, stick time since 2002, indeed all good fun.

Been working on a new B50 with a pup this winter. I went with brushed motors in this one, it'll run a little quicker than the old one with brushless.

Fast?! What are you being funny? :D :p I'm not fast, I got these 3rd week of July, spent a week degreasing all metal parts & painting so paint could cure fully while I do my harvest... threw my back out the next week & couldn't do much anything for 8days, leaned on my neighbor to load out 5B's for me & do some desicating on peas, got through harvest ok by myself, but my lower back issues have bugged me all winter, couple hrs in the shop a day hunched over working on projects is all I can handle... turning 50 this yr, feel like 80 most days. :(

Anyways, just about done with this adt & pup :)

I made a valve divider block from brass for the pup

This dump cyl was on the trk, right side... the flexible hose going to the "T" I think I made it a bit too short, box going up/down - changing angles tugging a bit on this fitting broke it loose from the tube. Pipe goes up to top of tube & broke loose from that soldered joint... buffed the paint off, resolder, repaint, put it on pup after dinner today.

This is where the connection is for the pup hyds

https://s13.postimg.cc/njafzc6h3/013.jpg (https://postimg.cc/image/4e76pkrsz/)

Got a leak, hoping I just over tightened the fitting & crushed the seal too much... put on a new fitting with some thread seal... give a couple hrs to set & try it again.

https://s13.postimg.cc/6irjqnlpz/012.jpg (https://postimg.cc/image/6irjqnlpv/)

Made up some exhaust pipes from 5/16 Plastruct tube for this adt & the others

https://s13.postimg.cc/z8efncuvr/014.jpg (https://postimg.cc/image/yvn1h6clv/)

This air cleaner is 3D printed, used an 8mm magnet to hold it place for pictures & filming, leave it off during regular use so it don't get so dirty.

https://s13.postimg.cc/53pz1z2nb/016.jpg (https://postimg.cc/image/qq4zj017n/)

And I'm motivated to get busy putting this WA500 wheel loader together next, it's only 4yrs next month that I've had it  :D :p ...been using it for spare parts on occasion for other models that needed repairs, still missing a couple parts that'll hopefully show up next month.

The drive belt on my lathe is toast :( ...having a hard time trying to find one locally.

https://s13.postimg.cc/yivnavzg7/008.jpg (https://postimg.cc/image/u9qx8pw6r/)

I was looking on https://www.mcmaster.com/#drive-belts/=1booul2 (I see the link won't go directly to page I was looking at; it's the T5 series timing belt) My operators manual gave the dimensions 124 x 1.5 x 15 which is metric for teeth - depth - width When I measure the length I get 584mm & pitch is 5mm

Gonna be one of these 3 belts  ... would the difference in lengths compared to # of teeth be b/c of belt thickness?

T5-575-16 575 115 5 Urethane Gray -13° to 176° 1679K518 9.10
T5-610-16 610 122 5 Urethane Gray -13° to 176° 1679K545 9.51

Did you just zoom the pic Bo? It does look moreso 1:1

Thanx Tom. The dump area is almost too small for this combo.

I do have a 2x25 Sabertooth in the trk & a power wire coming from the cab Greg to put power to the axles on the pup, don't really want to b/c cornering makes it act weird... I have some hubs with one-way roller clutches that I made up for the 8wd 4206 cross dump, but took them off b/c I discovered I sometimes needed 8wd in both directions with that rig. I can't make that alteration till I get my lathe working again... ordered belts from McMaster yesterday... the slow bus through customs.

Yes Marc, the other Joe got a nice shine on it.

I let the joint sealer set for 36hrs, then tried to pull the grade loaded, the right two rears let go again  :( ...initially I could see the front of the adt lifting a lil, so it's pulling hard on two axles.

So I took the axles from the cross dump, I already have the stub axles drilled & tapped for the hubs with roller clutches. Now the adt & pup runs up the grade like it were empty. :)

I thought maybe you would have had the next size bigger on 220v Cooper? I might regret it someday on a big job having 30% less power... short term screening plant, the vibrating flat screen with 1/8 inch hole has been working great, but I hope to get ambitious someday & build a tracked mobile shaker with conveyers.

Thanx for the tips on where to look Frizzen, but I got rid of it a few weeks ago.

There was nothing visible for company or model # on the belt Neil, and the manual was quite vague too.

Corrected my track chain skipping on my Izzy dozer, a local machinist suggested increasing diameter of sprocket to change the pitch. Original sprocket diameter was about 1.985 inch, 1st try at 2.125" got me nearly half there, 2nd try oh so close at 2.23", it still skips occasionally with a blade full going uphill... close enough for now.

Put it through trails for a week or two to see what needs to be modified/improved, then tear it down for paint. Takes a pretty wide corner; was thinking adding a 3rd trailer, but is probably too long for indoor travels.

Next build is a side dump trl for the 4206, hope to tip it with two or three Actuonix actuators, box dimensions will be the same as the belly dumps.

Yes, brushed motor at each wheel, 12wd.

Watching your video I was wondering with all wheels being powered and as long as the combination is, do you have any kind of problem with the wheels on the last trailer when making a sharp turn as the radius is so much shorter than the other axles?

Last post on previous page shows a couple pics of the uni-directional needle roller clutches I installed in the hubs of last trl. A sharp turn, like near end of vid, last trl is on rudder ch, all the way right reverses motors so they will not engage - free roll. Lead trl is on throttle ch (I prefer to drive with my right thumb on elevator ch), I have to pull back on left stick a bit to keep from pushing rear of tractor sideways.

Whenever I turn at about 45 degree or less, it's at half speed, the motors aren't working at full power they tend to behave like an open differential to some extent & usually no added tx stick movement necessary. Both trl chs on Slave are mixed with tractor being Master.

Nearly finishing the 1st bench cut; I knew it was too high @17" with about a 2:1 slope, the hoe was 3" from the edge but it was always sinking a little as I reached out to fill the trls. Dozer time, new bench about 6" high will make loading much easier & SAFER! It'll be three more bench cuts to get down to the hardpan.

I agree jim, some blade skills,,

nice pics joe and the sorting sure makes for some nice material. hopefully before too long I get my screening project up and running. you don't get too much rock up there do ya, that crusher you have is that primarily used to break hard clumps?

Lil Giants
07-23-2018, 08:44 PM
Ah moving out the stock pile Mark? Try to get it all out before the white stuff comes again... I finished clearing that lil bench today, it's been so incredibly hot here last 2 wks with a few rainy days too, spend early mornings doing odd jobs on the farm, hide in the shop during the heat of the day & some nights an hr before dark hauling out or blading... get it done in moderation, don't wanna be too fast at it :D

Thanx Jim :) dirt is quite dry & grainy, easy to blade smooth compared to the rocky/lumpy dirt you tangle with in your videos... make yourself a screener & crusher like me & then you'll have nice dirt to work with too. ;) That lil dirt pile took about an hr to smooth out, you'd probably be the only one patient enough to watch it all. :D

For sure Cooper, the screening & crushing activities add to the enjoyment value in keeping the equipment moving, ;) :D Not a lot of rock?... I guess that depends on what you consider a lot of rock... in my soil I have everything from garden pea size/sand to watermelons.... not far from home I have some fields with rocks the size of Datsuns, when they get to sticking out of the ground too much, I then get the local TLB to either fish them out & skid 'em to the nearest rockpile or if they're too big to handle the op will dig a deeper hole to roll the rock into to get it a few feet below the surface, I likely won't see it again in my lifetime.

Everything from hardball & smaller rock goes thru the crusher, anything else larger gets hand picked & hauled away in my Ranger. ;)

What's left for fines

Joe,

You probably already answered these questions, but is your crusher just a typical jaw crusher and are you running dry dirt thru it? Any trouble with clay sticking to the jaws? How do you have it set? Pretty close? Looks close from the fines you make.

40! That is hot even me, a Fahrenheit guy, thinks that is hot! The only few I have memorized is 0-32, and 28-82 so 40 is HOT!

Lil Giants
09-16-2018, 01:52 AM
Yes Jim, simple jaw, though I don't know exactly what the offset of the eccentric shaft iis. And yes, the drier the clay - the better it crushes. When screening the fines out & piling the lumps for a period of time again helps shorten drying... but there is some lumps with a bit of moisture within & it does build up near the top of the fixed jaw, I scrape with a wooden paint stir stick. The jaw opening is about 1/4... could go down as narrow as 1/8, but crush time could quadruple, depending on amount of rock quantity & size.

I don't know the conversion on Celsius vs Fahrenheit either... quick google tells me 42C = 107.6F... the hottest temps I've ever been in was during the early 90's of my harvester days, 117F; we circled back to NW Kansas in late July after they had 17" rain in 17 days, I spent more time outside slinging chains being stuck - then getting back into an ice cold cab... I caught the worst summer cold of my life to date! :(

That 40 heat wave caused a lot of crop damage this yr resulting in mega $ losses for what otherwise could of been a lottery yr.

Thanx Tom :) Majority harvest completed a few days ago, currently very wet outside, back in the Lil Giants workshop today tuning up digging equipment & headed for the basement here shortly to resume basement digging activities once again, haven't done any digging in nearly two years. Still have about 5 cubes of dirt to haul outside before winter in a few months.

Not sure if I got a leak or if I'm just pushing the oil too hard making it weep every so little from somewhere... couple yrs ago I changed Jung pump from model# 4002 to 4003 increasing flow 30% to 1.8L/min, a definite improvement to move boom - stick - bucket simultaneously with good speed & no cavitation. Not touching pressure from where it was set with older pump, the pressure did go up to nearly 40Bar...

Lots of Q-tips & toilet paper, I got it pretty clean again. Can't see any notable leaks & have never had any significant volume drops in short periods of time the last yr.

Did ya go for a ride yet?

Lil Giants

www.mfacomodrills.com motors with planetaries, these particular ones are 940D with 100:1 reduction. Fumotec supplies all his trk models with these motors or his custom made mini brushless motors. I prefer the brushed motors b/c you can put as many motors as you like on one esc; the brushless needs 1 esc per motor & then tuning them all to work together, brushed motors travel faster & have better braking too. I use a 2x25 Sabertooth in the 4206 with mix in esc off but mixed within radio programming. I like to drive with my right thumb, so the tractor is on elevator ch, trl is on throttle ch... tight turns, pull back on throttle so trl doesn't push the tractor sideways; steep hills more throttle so the tractor doesn't spin.

Indeed frizzen, some days I get a lot of exercise playing with my toys :D

Lowboy works awesome... need more practice side loading, a little scary the first time. I added 1/2 inch steel angle on the edges so equipment can't slide off in transport, they're bolted on, take them off in the future to load/unload. ;)

www.mfacomodrills.com motors with planetaries, these particular ones are 940D with 100:1 reduction.

I added 1/2 inch steel angle on the edges so equipment can't slide off in transport, they're bolted on, take them off in the future to load/unload. ;)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUx3a-WbOx4

Hi, thanks for the info for the motors from a couple of weeks back. I just ordered some from www.mfacomodrills.com. I ordered them as a back up for my B50. I am always impressed with the power and reliability of these motors. I bought them as a backup to have on hand if I ever have one fail. But the current motors have been solid for many years.
I agree with your reasoning on the brushed over the brushless for the drive motors. Several years ago when I built my B50 no one was using Brushless motors on machines like these for the drive, so that was my only choice. I am glad that is how it was.
As commented you the youtube video, love the lowboy by the way....

What did you use for belting on your conveyors

Lil Giants
01-28-2019, 07:07 AM
Eddie, I doubt you'll ever need to change one, as much as I've tortured them the past 4 yrs I've never had one fail. The motor I just changed in my 850 is a 942D (I think) with a 516:1 head.

Frank had those mini brushless motors custom made to fit the narrower axles on his B4206 & WA500 loader. The brushed motors are too long. My other B4206 with hyds, they have brushless motors in them that I had to file down the "bells" to get them to fit, there's literally 1mm between the two of them, they run a lil faster & a lil more powerful too, bigger diameter bell.

I hope you can find time some day again soon Eddie to get back at 'er with your hobbies... and prod your neighbor Ayoub while you're at it, he's been dormant a long time too.

Evan, these conveyors came from https://rcmodeldesign.com/ I saw them listed in the description of RC Sparks Youtube Gold vids. There a lil over priced for what you get... the vulcanizing on the belt splice was near perfect, can barely tell where it is, that's about all the positive I can say about it... if I do buy any more conveyors it will be the TeleTracs from Model Tech Winter in Germany, I'm sure you've seen his vids on utube & facebook.

My utube channel got mentioned on some one's "stream" last Sunday, picked up 3400 subs & 600K views in the last week... utube kicked me out of their "Partnership Program" a yr ago b/c I didn't meet one of their requirements, 4000 watch hrs/year... they didn't pay me the $1100usd in ad revenue I built up either... probably missed out on another grand or more this week... my channel is on several news sites & blogs again last week, everybody making money off my hobby & I've never made a cent!

I dropped the pup, then bound the two B50's together on a DX8 radio & drove them up the incline simultaneously :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJlBg7F8-Go&lc

I learned something from this video... 4 brushed motors on one esc, like a front loader or tractor, works fine; but 6 motors on one esc in the ADT, kinda wonky!

I always thought since the 1st run of the newer B50 that it didn't seem to pull the incline quite right; and now without the pup I see why. Time for some rewiring. ;)

Thanx Calum :) Maybe next month have a vid of the lil screener, vibra screening large lumps & rocks right now.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2019/001_zps5vwgpdyr.jpg

If you noticed in the last video @9.10, the painted cab ADT struggled to get out of the hole? Reason being, all the weight on the middle axle and much less weight on front & rear axles allowing them to spin easily, stealing all the power leaving the middle axle with no power.

This B50 has a 2x25 Sabertooth in it b/c it was pulling a pup & I wanted separate power between the two axle groups for turning... now I've wired the middle axle to the 2nd motor driver and the front & rear axles on the 1st motor driver. The DIP switch on Sabertooth left in Independant Drive, radio mixed the two Sabertooth channels... problem solved! It'll likely walk up the long dirt ramp out of the basement better than it ever did before too. ;)

Did some hauling a few days ago, my mod with re-powering the B50 axles didn't work as well as I had hoped, get a lot of weight on the center axle & it still doesn't have enough umf!! to get over the hump. A thought just come to me now... center axle is Slave on the mix, so maybe if I jack it to 120% so center axle pushes harder ... and I need to re-glue my tires to rims with that black tar crap again :(, I can see them slipping... yucky stuff to mess with.

This load of rock was too heavy for the brushed motors, had to give it a helping hand up the dirt ramp too, but the trk backed up the steep crusher ramp on its own... making me wonder if I reverse the motor leads on the Sabertooth, reverse direction in radio programming, maybe I'll have more power going forward then  ...the Sabertooth is at the back of the cab below the steering cyls, I'd have to pull all the guts out of the trk to get to it. :(

nice pictures joe, temps too cold for me to be doing any material moving, funny you are farther north and have an abundant of work and able to enjoy it!! well more jealous really :) I wouldn't say you are having problems, just pushing the equipment for more production! keep digging!!!!! you have a good set up and processing flow, something to reference in the quarry site engineering books ;) ive been looking at a lot of equipment pictures (mostly large quarry stuff) amazing how much planning goes into quarry design, road grades, road base material, distance to transport, ect,, your roads and grade angles even apply to our scale stuff, pretty cool in my opinion. id say you are getting the most in aspect to haulage,,, definitely when you load up the trucks ! don't dig too fast or before too long ill see you digging out for an underground hockey arena!! lol!

...yes, running out of work is soon going to be a problem, next phase in the planning steps... grain prices need to double from where they're at today to make it happen though... I hope to set it in motion in 2020... then I should be good for 5+ yrs before I need to dream up something else. ;) :D

But before I take that apart I try to figure out the hyd leak... some where in the front to do with the boom cylinders... either a bad seal on a fitting or a pin hole in one of the lines or ? ...what a greasy mess in a tight area to clean, lots of electrical cleaner, pressurized air & towels

Joe, your equipment looks just like the real stuff - a leak here and there with oil saturated dirt, worn parts from extreme use, and parts ordered from the manufacturer. Still amazed at the quantity of work you complete. I agree with Cooper, your crushing & screening operation would be the envy of any real company.

Keep on diggin'!

after all these years you are finally going to put gravel down on the haul roads?? LOL

Lil Giants

Thank you Ken, I don't know what to say other than happy accident :D

I was thinking of using the gravel to cover the damp areas that I soak for digging, make for a dry surface to keep the tracks out of the muddy clay. ;)

The last time I posted was the morning before I went to the city to take in a seminar from a prairie marketing analyst; about 200 ppl attending & no doubt a few sickies in the group too, I just started feeling better this wkend.

Getting some work done on the old JD850 last few days... pulled the boom off to get a better unobstructed view of the boom lines to look for a leak.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2019/004_zpsywctae3s.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2019/006_zps1y6bbbyj.jpg

I capped the lines of the stick & bucket with Tamiya sized screws that fit snuggly to keep the oil from dripping everywhere... when I turned on the pump to pressure up boom cyls in both directions to see if a neoprene line had a pin hole, oil was coming out the other 4 lines past the screws  ... that shouldn't do that  I pulled servos off & tried to hand center the valves, but the oil continued to flow out both sides of each valve... internal sealing issues ;) And the bucket valve (bottom valve in pic) has noticeably more oil atop it, I think that's where the leak is from. I'm gonna change all neoprene lines to new as well.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v150/protrker/Jan%2019/006_zpsdqisq1rj.jpg

Fortunately I got a spare 3 valve on hand & it's a steel one too.

I cut open one of the oil filters, some grit in it

It's so nice to now have a bigger mill to work on some of this stuff... my newer JD850 that I built the summer of '16, I drilled the swing motor hole large enough so the pinion gear would pass through, for the reason if I had any trouble with swing motor/gear I don't have separate the house from the u/c to get it apart... the mini mill I had before with a much smaller vise, the work piece popped out & I broke a very expensive drill bit :( ...simple job to do this time around :) I also slotted the 3mm holes a bit further to get tighter adjustment of pinion to crown gear ;)

Got a new boom a couple yrs ago.. the old boom, upon close inspection, the steel shows very little signs of wear, but rather it's the GFR that is completely broken away from both sides is why the hole is so much bigger. When the kit was new in 2010, the left side of pivot, the GFR was broke out showing the plate steel. I tried to make it as good as new with JB Weld...

...anyways, had this idea maybe my lil 450 could handle my home made screener, and it can, quite well too... I'll be getting a lot more use out of this lil 450 now. :)

9 or 10 video takes... 1st vid was like 40 minutes - 5gig whoaaa can't post a file that big! ...even with the last one, still made errors in what I said for different room dimensions, but got it down to 18 minutes... public speaking, not my friend.

Now using my IPhone 5s in the last couple videos vs 6yo GoPro, a better resolution & file size nearly cut in half.

Thanx Evan. I've got a few ideas for additional trls for the B4206 to pull, might get a Carson track loader this summer or wait till next summer... haven't looked at the Euro exchange in awhile. I can't think of any thing else that strikes my fancy at the moment.

Talking with my "contractor" yesterday, who's also a farmer too, about my new house, instead of doing an RTM - a stick build is looking more economical, might start on the footings this summer & do the exterior after harvest... he's wanting to keep his guys busy when the farming is caught up... I'm thinking about putting the new house 2 feet directly in front of my old house, gives me somewhere to live while it's going up, when the new house is done, demo the old house, keep the floor to have a huge deck out back & cover the old basement. And of course that gives me a brand new basement to dig out, 50 x 32 x 7, have a short tunnel from old basement into new ... that should keep my fleet occupied for a while & present new challenges to do it entirely RC :D

Finally got my box of goodies from Germany today... from the tracking #, package sat in customs for 12 DAYS! Ridiculous. Going to Calgary tomorrow to visit my brother & maybe a short visit with RC Sparks on Monday morning on my return trip home. I wanted to show him my old JD850, but it's in too many pieces to get it back together that quick... it's been a long cold day already working on farm equipment.

awsome a new house is always exciting especially when it sets you up for even more rcing. the prices around here have dropped alot to try and keep there workers busy also. that's awsome your meeting with Aaron his gold mining episode are by far my favorite thing on YouTube. tell him I want to buy his 1/5scale loader I'm sick of shoveling my long *** drive way.

Evan, having visited Aaron today I didn't even spot the 5th scale loader in his shop, so much to see & talk about, 3 hrs went by in a flash... when we realized the time I had about 15 minutes to pull my stuff out that I brought along to show him... really a great visit, Aaron's the same upbeat happy go lucky personable fella off camera as he appears on camera, great visit.

I was surfing his instagram account Sunday night and came across photos of the loader taken apart & Aaron commented on one of the photos that the price was $5000cdn... my memory served me incorrectly :D

Aaron also gave me the opportunity to run his life size rc skidsteer, very smooth controls, easy to operate, sweet machine

Thanx Calum, I got the dozer late July last year, it's about half done... this winter I seemed to be sick a lot, didn't get much of any building done, perhaps I find some time after seeding to get it together, run it a bit, then tear it down for paint... got lots of painting to do this summer on several models.

I just being funny Brian :D :p

I loaded up my gear Friday morning

Aaron pulled the JD850 out of my cab like it was a 20lbs model to have a look at it & then put it back in effortlessly  if I did what he'd done I'd have been laid out on his lawn the rest of day, probably overnight too!!! :o

We put our ADT's side by side, weight of each is about the same, his box is about 1/2 inch longer, my box noticeably wider, both travel about the same speed...

I wish you guys would have compared your 850 to Aaron's 4200, I would have liked to see the difference. The 1/5 loader is still there, it's just covered up and still broken. The axles in it were really poorly designed and tear out a set of gears as soon as you try to turn. He's had hardened gears made and it didn't help at all unfortunately.

I knew I took these pics Rookie... though I couldn't remember exactly when & where I posted them, found them on another forum. I got one of the early 4200's when they 1st came out in 2011 & it was a bucket of shyt right out of the box, hydraulic leaks & failed electronics, RC4WD screwed me over on warranty & I eventually gave it away to another member who wanted to rebuild it.

Thanx for the info Rookie on the 5th scale loader, totally know what you're saying about solid axles, especially in such a big - heavy model; either a differential or motor at each wheel would be the cure for different wheel speeds in articulated steering.

Something I just discovered frizzen with the recent pics loaded, seems I need to go to my settings "again" to preset out going pic size links before uploading or the pics will appear too large... I've been chatting with some one at photobucket, they say they're working on the issue.

I didn't video it frizzen, it didn't occur to me as anything eventful, the trks aren't that heavy & easy to put in the cab, but the problem with the track hoe is it's length puts too much forward weight for my lower back to handle, it walked up the quad ramps easily.

utube monetization... what a joke! utube kicked me out of their partnership program last yr b/c I didn't meet one of their "NEW" requirements, 4000 watch hrs per year... I got mentioned on a live stream.com this January & 20,000 watch hrs in a couple weeks... now 2 months later my adsense account still hasn't been approved... I did finally get my bank account "verified" last yr & Google did their test deposit of $0.58usd, but I haven't seen another dime... there was $1100usd in my adsense account... Google has made changes again & I don't know the path to find out whether the money is still there or not, and I've never found a phone # to call to talk a live person about it... whatever  ...I'll never be in the same utube popularity category as RcSparks anyway :)

looks like you had lots of fun Joe. that truck of Aaron's looks good and has me really wanting one. my adt build hit a wall just cant find the time to work on it anymore. the loader is cool I think axles from a snowblower with it programmed to unlock one axle when you want it to turn.

Yeah the 4200 certainly isn't the best out there but after changing the electronics in mine it runs "okay". Still leaks all over the place though but that helps with the scale look. lol. That 850 looks like a monster!

I'd have to say my 4200 is quite a bit better than the Faroe track loaders we picked up though. They are terrible quality, but at the $1600 they were on sale for we took a chance.
